    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates legend Joseph Makhanya is delighted to see Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota shine for Jose Riveiro's team.

Makhanya polished the two stars in the Buccaneers' reserve team over the past two seasons and the players have been performing well for Pirates so far.

However, seeing Mofokeng and Nkota playing a big role in Riveiro's team, Makhanya said he was not surprised as they did the same for his team.

    WHAT WAS SAID

"As a development coach, you are being judged by that work," Makhanya told iDiski Times.

"All the time, I know it’s going to be no, no, no, the coach he got them…. No, no, the right tool was implemented so that they can play structured football, get their confidence, which is something they are doing well.

"And I am very proud to say these boys when I found them here, they were boys that had talent but not the proper end-product, so they started to look like an end-product with DDC,'' he added.

"They started scoring goals, Nkota started scoring goals, and Rele started scoring goals, so we are not surprised that it is happening on the first team."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mofokeng, 20, has been torturing defenders since the start of the season. He helped the team win 2024 MTN8.

On the other hand, Nkota, 19, who joined the senior team this season, has become an important member of the Bucs team - having scored two goals in five league games so far.

The Soweto giants maintained their 100 per cent winning record in the league when they beat Richards Bay on Tuesday, with the two players on the field.

    WHAT NEXT?

Mofokeng and Nkota hope for a bright future with Pirates. If they continue shining, they might see themselves playing in Europe soon.

The two youngsters will be aiming to make their names in continental football when Bucs visit Algerian club CR Belouizdad for the Caf Champions League group stage match on Tuesday, November 26.
