    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Former Argentina U20 World Cup star Lucas Suarez has been left out of Sundowns’ squad for the Club World Cup.

The left-footed central defender joined the club on loan from Argentine outfit CA Talleres, in a deal set to run until the end of the year. However, what initially seemed like a promising signing quickly lost momentum, as Suarez struggled to make an impact. His game time began to dwindle in April and May, and with Sundowns opting not to register him for the tournament, he is ineligible to feature at the global showpiece.
