    THE BIGGER PICTURE

At the start of the 2023-24 campaign, Dladla initially joined the club as an assistant coach, when it was still operating as Maritzburg United under the guidance of Zipho Dlangalala.

Midway through the season, Dladla stepped into the head coach role following Dlangalala’s dismissal due to a disappointing start. Tasked with leading the push for promotion, he steered the team to a fourth-place finish, collecting 46 points from 30 matches.

Ahead of the following season, the club underwent a major transformation, relocating to Durban and rebranding as Durban City.

    WHAT’S NEXT?

According to FARPost, Durban City have set their sights on a few experienced coaches as they plan for life in the PSL.

Owen Da Gama is reportedly one of the front-runners. Another name in the mix is Sean Connor, who guided Jwaneng Galaxy to the Orange FA Cup title in Botswana.

Roger De Sa is also under consideration. He is currently serving as assistant coach to Diogo Peral at the now-relegated Cape Town City.
