Nigerian defender confirmed as Durban City's new signing after leaving Orlando Pirates with ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach reinforcing his squad

The Premier Soccer League transfer window was closed on Monday, September 22, where teams managed to strengthen their squads.

One of the teams that made an impressive business is Gavin Hunt's Durban City.    

They brought in some experienced players like Darren Keet, Haashim Domingo, Terrence Mashego, Fredrick Asare, Fezile Gcaba, among other players.

Apparently, the former Kaizer Chiefs coach had given a green light for the signing of Collins Nwoburuoke.  

The Nigerian centre-back has been training with Orlando Pirates, but the technical team passed on the opportunity to add him to the squad.

The 23-year-old's whereabouts have not been clear until his agent Mike Makaab confirmed his client secured a move to the Citizens.   

“Collins Nwoburuoke has completed a move to Durban City," he told FARPost. 

"He is a player who has a lot of potential, and he will definitely play a role in the PSL.
“He signed with Durban City just before the closure of the transfer window, and he’s just waiting for his papers for everything to be complete," Makaab concluded. 

Durban City have so far done well in the nine games played, where they have collected 15 points after four wins, three draws, and two losses.

Strengthening the defence will be massive for coach Hunt as he targets at least an MTN8 slot for the 2026/27 campaign.
