Nasreddine Nabi to drop underperforming Fiacre Ntwari? Kaizer Chiefs coach explains selection criteria in goalkeeping department with Bruce Bvuma & Brandon Petersen ready to play

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has shared his thoughts regarding his goalkeeping roster, which includes Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma, and the newly recruited goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari.

Rwanda's top goalkeeper, Ntwari, has been the preferred choice for Nabi since the beginning of the 2024/25 season, while Bvuma, Peterson, and the young talent Bontle Molefe have been on the bench.

However, Nabi has emphasised that the number one spot at Chiefs is not guaranteed to anyone, highlighting the intense competition among the top three goalkeepers.

"Fiacre Ntwari came back from the national team slightly injured, but he returned to training two days ago," Nabi told the media on Monday at the Kaizer Chiefs Village.

"So, between the three keepers, it is open. We need competition between them, it is open and we will make the best decision based on their performance." 

Ntwari's performances have been fluctuating so far and Chiefs' supporters have expressed their disappointment over his recent underwhelming displays.

Given that Ntwari has only recently returned to training two days ago, it is highly probable that he will be given some rest and Nabi could choose between Bvuma and Petersen.

Bvuma and Petersen were in action as the Soweto giants clinched the Cufa Cup trophy and the Home of Legends Cup this season.

It will be interesting to see which keeper will be in the starting lineup for the match against Richards Bay on Wednesday. 

The game will be followed by a match against Royal AM at the same venue on Saturday.
