    WHAT HAPPENED?

After impressive showings in previous assignments, Pule Mmodi was rewarded with a start on Saturday in the Soweto Derby.

The 31-year-old had a massive opportunity to score early in the match.

He did everything right but opted to round Sipho Chaine to get himself a better chance to tap the ball into an empty net.

However, the former recovered in time to stop Pule from scoring, with Chiefs eventually losing the game by a solitary goal.

Despite the miss, coach Nasreddine Nabi was left impressed with Mmodi's overall performance.

    WHAT NABI SAID

“Mmodi, it’s true he missed an opportunity and that’s part of the game, but we need to congratulate him because after that, his mentality was very good,” the Tunisian stated.

“He made a lot of runs, he helped the team defensively, offensively, he was one of the best players on the pitch. He didn’t put his head down, the opportunity that he missed and that’s part of football, we need to encourage him," Nabi concluded.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Orlando Pirates have now claimed four consecutive wins against their Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

It was a massive win that ensured they stayed closer to leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are hoping to win their eighth consecutive title.

However, Amakhosi still feel hard done by the manner they conceded the goal, especially after giving their best.
