    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has admitted that his club is 'ill' but is still confident heading into the Premier Soccer League Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Although Nabi acknowledges the poor form experienced by his side, he says the Glamour Boys are ready to fight and show that indeed they are the country's biggest club.

On who can win the derby, the Tanzania Premier League winning tactician was cagey, saying both Amakhosi and Bucs have equal chances of emerging the winner.

    WHAT NABI SAID

“We say that the biggest clubs can get ill, but they never die, but we believe that the biggest club in South Africa probably at this time, we might be a little bit ill, but we believe that we are still alive and we can do something," Nabi said as per iDiski Times.

“If Orlando Pirates also win the derby, it’s not going to be a surprise as well. Those are the two biggest clubs in South Africa.

“Despite our current log standing, we believe that two big clubs are going to play on Saturday even if we are not in a very good position. If Kaizer Chiefs wins the derby on Saturday, it’s not going to be a surprise. But we feel that whoever wins on Saturday, it’s because he has deserved it," he added.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Both Chiefs and Pirates head into the derby as wounded giants. The Glamours Boys are winless in the last six league games, and their recent defeat to Marumo Gallants marked their eleventh loss of the season.

On the other hand, the Sea Robbers were eliminated from the Caf Champions League by Pyramids at the semi-final stage and returned to domestic matters in a mid-week league clash, falling to a 1-0 defeat by Sekhukhune United.

The loss at their own turf means that Bucs' dream of winning the PSL now lies on mathematical chances after Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Richards Bay to widen the gap at the top to 12 points.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Amakhosi will host the Sea Robbers on May 3 at the FNB Stadium as the Soweto rivals clash in a league game.

An even bigger showdown awaits on May 10 when Chiefs and Pirates clash in the Nedbank Cup final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
