    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs surrendered a lead to lose 2-1 to Marumo Gallants in a Premier Soccer League match at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

It was the Soweto giants' 11th league defeat of the season as coach Nasreddine Nabi nears equalling Arthur Zwane's record of 12 PSL losses in one campaign.

Now placed ninth on the table with five games to go and facing the risk of missing out on an MTN8 spot, Nabi remains adamant and believes the redemption process is right on course.

    WHAT NABI SAID

“To convince the fans about the process is not going to depend on one or two games – you understand what I’m saying, you need to be logical, if you talk about a process it’s not the result of one or two games,” Nabi said as per iDiski Times.

“It’s not like that to be in line with the process, you agree with me – yes we are still on track, we have an evaluation of a four-step process this season. You have the key, you align this process.

“It’s not about one or two [wins], maybe you get a good result, but it’s not because of winning or losing when you say the process is right or not.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

To highlight Chiefs' problems, they have not tasted victory in their last six league games, having last won a PSL match in early March when they laboured to a 1-0 victory over Magesi.

The current run of form includes three defeats and as many draws.

Nabi and his men would be hoping that the rough patch will not psychologically affect them as they head into next Saturday's Soweto Derby showdown against Orlando Pirates.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Amakhosi's focus is now on the Soweto Derby, and Nabi has a huge task to have his players morally uplifted.

Chiefs might, however, seek inspiration from their recent exploits when they stunned Mamelodi Sundowns out of the Nedbank Cup.
