    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs snapped up Ranga Chivaviro at the beginning of last season after a good run with Marumo Gallants that saw the big striker score 17 goals in 30 matches.

The Glamour Boys had high hopes for the forward but his time with the Soweto club has seen a return of just nine goals in 45 appearances since his move.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

It has not worked out for the 32-year-old since his move to Naturena and he has failed to get Amakhosi's fans onside as he has been guilty of missing too many gilt edged chances despite getting plenty of opportunites to prove his worth.

Tashreeq Morris was signed in the January transfer window to help in the attacking department but has picked up an injury, missing the last three PSL matches and he has failed to hit the mark in the five appearances for his new club.

Former Chiefs attacker Daniel Matsau strongly feels Chivaviro is done at the club and needs to move on.

    WHAT MATSAU SAID

"Though he is a good striker, I'm concerned about his movements. He doesn't create enough space for his teammates to find him," he told SNL24.

"That's why they struggle to find him, which affects his ability to score goals. His movements around the box are not good.

"He often hides from the ball, and most of the time, he positions himself at the far post or stands at the penalty spot. Those positions are for overlapping teammates and oncoming attacking midfielders.

"As a result, he is going to struggle to score goals. A striker should always be the first one to react to second balls.

"For me, I think they should let Ranga go because if Chiefs manage to find a new striker, especially now with Tashreeq Morris in the mix, I don’t think Ranga will play again.

"Every time Morris plays, there is a lot of movement up front, and there's no way they will play Ranga while keeping a fit Morris on the bench. Morris does things that Chivaviro can’t," Matsau concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

It is highly unlikely that Chivaviro will be at Amakhosi beyond this season.

Chivaviro should earn a move to another team by maximizing the playing time given by coach Nasreddine Nabi.

It seems Morris is the current first choice with Ashley du Preez coming second.
