    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mohau Nkota announced his arrival on the continental stage with a brace in Orlando Pirates' Caf Champions League 2-1 win away at CR Belouizdad recently.

    WHAT NKOTA SAID

"I think my form has helped the team a lot and I have done my best when given an opportunity, so I think I have to do more," Nkota told CafOnline.

"I have to always do my best and score goals so that the team does well. This is a very strong team that has been pushing a lot collectively, so I think we just need to keep going and win more games.

"We have a lot of players who are hungry to play and every player that gets a chance wants to do well. We prepare the same, so all our players are eager to play," he added.

"We believe we can go to the final. We have to obviously win the remaining games but ours is to remain humble and work hard in improving ourselves.

I think we just need to work on ourselves and remain humble at all times," the 20-year-old continued.

"We are competing with ourselves. We have a star on our badge and have set our own goals. We now want to win another star. We are not focused on Sundowns but rather on ourselves and to be the best."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Pirates last reached the Champions League final in 2013 where they lost to Al Ahly and Nkota is keen to see his team get there again.

This is his debut season playing top-flight league football and he has already made a big impression even on the grand continental stage.

The 20-year-old is already shouldering the huge responsibility of leading Pirates' attack and outshining seasoned forwards like Evidence Makgopa and Tshegofatso Mabasa.

Should he continue with his top form and gain experience in the continent, it would not be surprising to see him breaking into the Bafana Bafana setup.

    WHAT NEXT FOR NKOTA?

After failing to score against Al Ahly, all eyes are on Nkota to see if he can pick himself against Stade d'Abidjan away in Ivory Coast on Saturday.

It is a match in which the Buccaneers are keen on collecting maximum points after dropping points against the Cairo giants.
