    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns are riding high after securing a 2-0 victory over Cape Town City in the Mother City.

The win not only strengthens their grip on the domestic title but also pushed City further toward the relegation playoffs.

This result marks another milestone in a historic campaign for Sundowns, who are now just two wins away from claiming the League title for the eighth time in a row.

The Brazilians' dominance on both local and continental fronts is a testament to their consistency and ambition.

Head coach Miguel Cardoso expressed pride in how his team approaches every match with intensity, focus, and commitment.

He highlighted their ability to perform and score goals under pressure.
Cardoso also praised his technical team for their role in keeping the squad prepared and motivated.

    WHAT CARDOSO SAID

“Amazing and again a very good performance. Not an easy game, first half quite tricky, we had to make some corrections in our positioning at halftime – the message was well received. Second half, I think we coped even more – beautiful goals, good performance,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV, as reported by Soccer Laduma.

“The boys are really fighting for what they want so much, we really committed for every match and now its go for next one and next one and try to well try to get it. But we need to respect everybody because the next opponent will again be a very tough one,” he added.

“I think we are a humble team, and humility it’s not a bad value not too much if it’s too much of course it’s not proper but having it in the right sense, understanding step-by-step it’s how you make a career working hard,” Cardoso said.

“That’s what my boys are doing – Marcelo is obviously one of them – a high-quality player but it’s beautiful to see how they remain humble. We made some corrections at halftime.

“I told them there’s something that are not ok and they tried to do it immediately in the second half and we got a goal because of that.

“I’m a very proud coach, proud of the club where I work, proud of the family that supports this club or the values that we grow and also proud of the work of the boys, my staff.

“The staff around us but still a lot to fight, still a lot to fight. We have four finals to play let’s focus on the next one now,” he continued.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sundowns are eager to wrap up the league title as quickly as possible to shift full focus to their upcoming Caf Champions League final. Their continental opponent, Pyramids FC, recently knocked out Orlando Pirates, underlining the challenge ahead.

Cardoso’s team wants to manage squad rotation and avoid injuries before the final. With their depth and form, the league title looks like a matter of when, not if. Pirates, meanwhile, bounced back from their Caf exit with a morale-boosting win over Kaizer Chiefs, but the spotlight firmly remains on Sundowns' continental quest.
