    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have been missing several players, among them Edmislon Dove, Brandon Petersen, Bongani Sam, George Matlou, and most recently Gaston Sirino.

Despite the absentees, the team has started the season relatively well, having collected six points from a possible nine in their three Premier Soccer League matches having lost in controversial circumstances to Sundowns in their last league match..

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

One player who has been influential is Sirino who joined the Glamour Boys as a free agent in the most recent transfer window.

The 33-year-old provided two assists and a goal in his first two league matches, only to be subbed off against his former team Mamelodi Sundowns due to an injury.

It was not clear whether the creative midfielder would recover in time to play SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout, but coach Nasreddine Nabi has some good news for the Amakhosi faithful.

    WHAT NABI SAID

"You will notice that we felt the absence of Sirino in our last game against Marumo Gallants [in the friendly CUFA Cup]," the Tunisian said ahead of the game.

"It shows the importance of that player inside the team. Maybe he is not fully recovered but we will try and count on him in the next game, maybe not the 90 minutes, but we will try and recover him for the game," Nabi concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

After early elimination from MTN8 in the first hurdle and an unconvincing start in the PSL, SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt is desperate to get a win.

However, they will not find it easy against Amakhosi who are keen on bouncing back from the controversial loss against Mamelodi Sundowns and are desperate to reward their 80-year-old chairman Kaizer Motaung with a trophy 'gift' for his recent birthday.
