    WHAT HAPPENED?

After 206 days and 17 league matches in charge, Dan Malesela has been shown the exit door by Marumo Gallants, alongside Technical Director Molefi Ntseki.

Malesela, who secured four wins and three draws during his third stint with the club, leaves the team languishing in 14th place with just 15 points.

As the search for a new head coach begins, former Free State Stars legend Duncan Lechesa and Sundra Govender have been appointed as interim coaches.

The club has also confirmed ongoing discussions with Moroccan coach Abdeslam Quaddou, who has already arrived in the country.

With time running out to turn their season around, Gallants will hope the interim duo can steady the ship before a permanent appointment is made.

The coaching change signals a desperate bid to avoid relegation as they prepare for a crucial run of fixtures.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With 13 games remaining and Gallants sitting in the relegation zone, immediate results are crucial to ensure survival.

A fresh tactical approach from a new coach could provide the spark needed to revive the struggling side.

Interim coach Govender previously took charge when Malesela was placed on "special leave" but suffered a humiliating 8-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates, the biggest loss in the league this season.

His inability to secure a win during that period raises concerns, but his partnership with Lechesa could provide a different outcome.

Stability and confidence will be key as the team looks to rebuild after a turbulent season. Gallants must now rally together and grind out results to escape the drop zone.

    WHAT NEXT FOR GALLANTS?

Gallants will host a wounded Polokwane City side, who have failed to win in their last two outings but remain third in the standings.

Meanwhile, Gallants are on a three-game losing streak and desperate for a turnaround.

The match, set for Sunday, February 23, presents a crucial opportunity for the home side to secure much-needed points.

A win could provide a morale boost and shift momentum as they battle relegation. However, facing a top-three team will be no easy task, making it a high-stakes encounter.
