  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates are set to make a trip to Durban, where they will play their hosts, Golden Arrows, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The Sea Robbers come into the match full of confidence after beating old rivals Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in the Soweto Derby last weekend.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Arrows have played 23 games this season, and despite being 14th on the table, they have a massive chance of finishing in the top eight.

The Soweto giants are hoping to defy the odds and beat the favourites, Mamelodi Sundowns, to the Premier Soccer League table.

Ahead of the mid-week meeting, coach Manqoba Mngqithi insists his team has what it takes to deliver against the Buccaneers.

    WHAT MNGQITHI SAID

“First, we need to look at Pirates, look at their strengths and their last three, four matches, see how we can capitalise on some of their weaknesses," the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach opened up to the media.

“We need to also do the best we can in dealing with the areas where they are strong, and I’m always confident that in games where you don’t need intrinsic motivation, this team can always come out and surprise you because they also want it," Mngqithi continued.

“It’s just unfortunate that when you win those matches [against big teams], and you have given points away [against the small teams], it feels bad.

“But I’m very confident that in that Pirates game, we can still do very well," he concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

In April last year, Bucs claimed a massive 7-1 win over Arrows.

However, this is the first time the sides are meeting this season owing to Pirates' busy schedule.
