Man City set to complete record deal for teenage sensation as FIFTH summer signing after seeing off Arsenal & Aston Villa competition

City have beaten off competition from Arsenal, Aston Villa and Girona to land 18-year-old talent Nypan, according to The Athletic. The midfielder is close to agreeing a switch to the Etihad Stadium for a record fee for a player from the Norwegian league and is expected to be sent straight out on loan next season.

Guardiola has been busy reshaping his squad after a disappointing season. Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli have already signed and will be part of the first-team squad for next season. Nypan may have to wait longer for his Manchester City debut, with the final details of his potential move from Rosenberg still to be ironed out, but he is clearly seen as another big talent for the future by Man City.

Nypan became the youngest player to score in a league match for Rosenborg when he netted at the age of just 16 years and 145 days old in May 2023.

Manchester City finished the 2024-25 season trophyless but will be going for glory this summer at the Club World Cup. The team's first game is against Wydad AFC on June 18, with Al Ain and Juventus completing their opponents in Group G.
