    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Thabang Sibanyoni was on loan at Richards Bay since July 2024 but was released by the KwaZulu-Natal side in December.

But the 29-year-old struggled to make an impact at the Natal Rich Boyz and is now being linked with a move to Premier Soccer League basement side Magesi FC.

His agent Themba Shabalala says they are weighing their options as the player could make a January move.

    WHAT SHABALALA SAID

“We’re carefully evaluating all the options for Thabang Sibanyoni," said Shabalala as per FARPost.

"Our priority is to find an environment where he can fit in perfectly and showcase his talent. We want to ensure the best possible situation for his career.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Magesi pursuing a struggling forward could be a sign of coach Owen da Gama's desperation to save the club from relegation.

This comes as Sibanyoni has not scored a single goal for the Natal Rich Boyz in nine games across all competitions this season.

He last featured in a competitive match at the beginning of November 2024 before he was released by Richards Bay.

    WHAT NEXT?

With the January transfer window still open, it is to be seen if Da Gama will be able to sign Sibanyoni.

The Limpopo-based side might need more signings as well as they seek to avoid demotion from the PSL.
