    WHAT HAPPENED?

SuperSport United stunned Cape Town Spurs with a last-minute goal to clinch a 2-1 win in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 contest at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Urban Warriors gained an early lead through Therlo Moosa, who found the net within the first five minutes of the match.

However, the visitors could not withstand Matsatsantsa's pressure as Gavin Hunt's side equalised, thanks to Ime Okon in the 36th minute, resulting in both teams going to the half-time break level.

Neither team managed to score any goals in the second half. As it appeared the match would head into penalty shootouts, Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Lebohang Maboe netted a decisive goal for the Spartans just one minute before the final whistle in extra time.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

A victory for SuperSport should alleviate pressure on Gavin Hunt, whose team has been struggling to grind positive results in the Premier Soccer League.

Cape Town Spurs, conversely, would have desired to advance to the Nedbank Cup Round of 8 to enhance their confidence as they return to league action, where they are also finding it difficult to achieve positive results.
