    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns are set to face Royal AM, who remain unbeaten in the league but have yet to secure a win, with all their games ending in draws.

Their only loss this season came in a cup competition. Meanwhile, Bafana Ba Style have been in dominant form since their MTN8 exit, steamrolling every opponent in their path.

Unfortunately for Thwihli Thwahla, this might not be the ideal time to take on Manqoba Mngqithi’s in-form side.

Lebo Maboe, a key player for Sundowns this season, shared his thoughts on what to expect from John Maduka’s team.

    WHAT MABOE SAID

"I think I'm expecting a big fight, I think they are a team that hasn't been doing quite well in recent games, but as you know, any team that comes up against us will be willing to sweat blood even," said Maboe as reported by SABCSport.

"So they are not a team that looks to play a lot from the back, they play a lot off second balls, and if we can manage that, I think we've got a greater chance of winning the game.

"They will be sitting back a bit, I don't think they'll be as adventurous as other teams have been against us, [but] I don't think it will [affect Sundowns] – we've got a really great squad, with players that can break down any defence on any given day.

"Playing for Sundowns, we've got a big responsibility on putting smiles on our fans' faces, so I think it's also important for us to put the team in a good position to win the game."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Maboe has regained his place in the star-studded Mamelodi Sundowns squad, stepping up to fill the void left by the injured Themba Zwane.

This opportunity not only signals his return to form but also highlights the trust the technical team has in his abilities.

Being a versatile player, Maboe's contribution goes beyond just filling gaps - it's a chance for him to cement his importance in the squad's long-term plans.

If he continues performing well, this could mark a turning point in his career, restoring his status as one of Sundowns' key players.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MAMELODI SUNDOWNS?

Up next for Mamelodi Sundowns, beyond their clash with Royal AM, is the crucial task of maintaining their winning streak and building momentum as they push to retain their league title.

With their dominant start to the season, the defending champions are focused on staying consistent and keeping pace with the unbeaten Orlando Pirates.

Every game presents an opportunity to solidify their status as favourites for the title and prepare for tougher challenges ahead, both domestically and in continental competitions.

Sundowns will aim to balance squad rotation while ensuring they stay sharp and avoid injuries, as they look to cement their legacy with another successful campaign.
