Recently, SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt suggested former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns player Phakamani Mahlambi's career was destroyed by excessive drinking of alcohol.

However, a section of South Africans have thrown the blame to Premier Soccer League champions Masandawana, while others feel the attacker was overrated.
