    WHAT HAPPENED?

Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr. and his compatriot Paulo Ganso have become sources of inspiration for Mamelodi Sundowns forward Arthur Sales.

Sales, aged 22, joined the esteemed Tshwane giants at the beginning of the season from Lommel SK, a second-tier club in Belgium's Challenger Pro League.

As he continues to grow his game, Sales, who also hails from Brazil, has revealed that Neymar and Ganso's qualities make him want to improve more in his career.

    WHAT SALES SAID

“I look up to players like (Paulo) Ganso and Neymar Jr. Their skill, creativity, and ability to influence games inspire me,'' Sales said in Sundowns' Magazine.

“I strive to incorporate elements of their play into my own game, aiming to bring that flair and excitement to the pitch here at Sundowns.”

“I am inspired by Lucas and the way he has adapted to the demands of the game in the highly competitive league.

“I aim to learn from him and the other experienced players in the squad. The aspirations and ambition here are contagious and I cannot wait to give my all for the Yellow Nation.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sales has been facing challenges in adjusting to South African football and has been subject to strong criticism from Sundowns fans recently.

The towering attacker has not opened his scoring tally for the Chloorkop-based giants as he continues to find his feet in the Premier Soccer League.

In addition, he encounters strong competition within Manqoba Mngqithi's team in the striker position. He competes for the position against top strikers Peter Shalulile and Iqraam Rayners.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SALES?

Sundowns and Chippa United will face off in the Home of Legends Cup in Gqeberha on Saturday, providing an opportunity to keep non-national duty players active.

Shalulile and Rayners will be away representing their national teams. Their absence will provide Sales an opportunity to play against the Chilli Boys.
