Mamelodi Sundowns dismiss Marumo Gallants to set up Carling Knockout final date with Orlando Pirates slayers Magesi FC

After a goalless first in which the home side had better chances at goal, Sundowns finally got a golden chance to take the lead.

Marvin Sikhosana handled inside the box while trying to block a Peter Shalulile cross to earn Masandawana a penalty which Lucas Ribeiro Costa converted in the 53rd minute.

Substitute Neo Maema then put the match out of Gallants' reach when he struck right at the death to contribute to sending Sundowns to the final where they will meet Magesi.

Ribeiro was named the Man of the Match following his goal that opened the way for Sundowns to seal the important victory.

However, Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams also deserved some special mention for some crucial saves especially in both halves.

Dan Malesela's job is now on the line following Gallants' exit from the Carling Knockout.

Placed 14th on the Premier Soccer League table with just two points more than basement side TS Galaxy, Bahlabane ba Ntwa had hoped the Beer Cup would give them redemption and boost the team's morale.

Gallants and Sundowns will now go on a break to pave the way for the upcoming Fifa international period although some of their players will be doing duty for their respective national teams.

While Bahlabane ba Ntwa will return with a Premier Soccer League trip to SuperSport on November 29, Masandawana are scheduled to meet Magesi in the Carling Kockout on November 23 at Toyota Stadium.
