    WHAT HAPPENED?

Owen Da Gama has overseen 12 games, securing three wins, two draws, and suffering seven losses since replacing Clinton Larsen.

Magesi FC has nine matches remaining and sits on 17 points, facing tough fixtures against Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, both vying for the league title.

Despite the challenges, Da Gama remains confident that his team can avoid relegation.

Speaking to the media, he emphasised his belief in the squad’s ability to turn things around.

He also highlighted the unwavering support of the club’s chairman in their fight for survival.

With crucial games ahead, Magesi will need a strong finish to the season to maintain their top-flight status.

    WHAT DA GAMA SAID

"I spoke with the owner with regards to a player that I saw. And He had promised to take that to another level. So there is hope it shows that we are preparing [for another season in the Premiership]," said Da Gama, as reported by Kickoff.

"So we are right in the middle there. To be honest with you, we are not thinking of relegation. We are very positive, and I think that is good within the team. We are positive about what we are doing, and we are working tirelessly.

"It's the one thing that counted between us is that teams that have been five, ten years in the league, they have been fixing up. Every season they reinforce, they strengthen and unfortunately [for Magesi], this is the first season and it's always a tough season as you said, winning the cup (Carling Knockout) has made it even more difficult because of the mindset it gives players."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With 27 points still up for grabs, Magesi FC has a crucial opportunity to turn their season around.

Playing seven of their remaining nine games at home could provide a significant advantage for Da Gama’s side.

Home support and familiarity with their conditions may give them the edge they need in tight encounters.

Having already won a cup this season, the club has shown it possesses the pedigree to compete at a high level.

Senior players like Given Mashikinya and Gift Motupa will need to step up and provide leadership in this decisive period.

If they can rally together and maximize their home advantage, Magesi FC has a strong chance of securing their top-flight status.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MAGESI?

Magesi FC faces a crucial clash against fellow relegation candidates Richards Bay, who are four points behind them.

A victory would create breathing space in the relegation battle, while a loss could tighten the race even further.

Owen Da Gama’s side must capitalise on their home advantage and experience to secure a vital three points.
