BurnleyWHAT HAPPENED?
Lyle Foster's mentor, Augusto Palacios, has welcomed the striker's promotion back to the Premier League with Burnley as an important move even for Bafana Bafana.
Foster's Burnley confirmed their place in the English top tier next season after a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United days ago.
Palacios said that the Bafana forward is growing in English football and that his promotion is important for the country too.

"It's great that Burnley has been promoted to the Premier League. Leeds United still has two games left in the league, but the promotion of the other four teams will go to the play-offs. This is a significant accomplishment," Palacios said, as quoted by KickOff.
"Lyle is growing in English football. Being promoted to the Premier League twice is very important. At just 24, he will achieve even more now that he's back in the Premier League.
"His experience will be beneficial for Bafana Bafana. It’s not easy to play in England because, at times, teams have to play three games in a week. Burnley is also treating him very well.
"Congratulations to Lyle for overcoming illness and injury. He continues to demonstrate his quality, and the coach has confidence in him. From the start of the season, they have consistently been in the top three," he concluded.

Palacios moulded Foster during their time at Orlando Pirates, and he is very happy with how the forward has grown in his career.
"I am very proud of his success, and I believe he will continue to succeed with blessings from God. He plays in a country where the stadiums are always full, and the support from the fans is tremendous," he added.
"I expect him to perform well, score, and create goals. He must continue to make a name for himself in English football. He understands the level of competition, and he will face great teams like Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, and others.
"He has a positive attitude and approach. I maintain consistent communication with him and his family, and it's a great experience," he concluded.

Foster was part of the Bafana squad that played in the March 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.
His experience with his club is expected to play a vital role for Hugo Broos' Bafana, especially with key games coming up.
The remaining World Cup qualifiers will be played in September and October, and Broos will highly depend on his experienced stars to do the job and take South Africa to the global showpiece.
Bafana will also take part in the 2025 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Morocco in December 2025 and January 2026, and Foster is expected to be named in the final squad.
