    WHAT HAPPENED?

Lucas Ribeiro's potential next club could have been revealed after the Brazilian sent a farewell message to Premier Soccer League giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

After a transfer saga that involved the two parties at the beginning of the 2025/26 season, Ribeiro finally penned a farewell message, all but indicating that he will not be part of the Masandawana family again.

  • WHAT IS MORE

Just after his farewell message, it has now emerged that the Brazilian could sign for a Spanish Segunda Division side, Cultural Leonesa.

According to Heraldo de León, the Spanish outfit is keen to sign the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Goal of the Tournament winner.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

In a touching farewell message, the Brazilian all but confirmed he has left the Tshwane giants, with whom he was involved in a transfer saga.

The attacker has been engaged in a push-and-pull saga with Sundowns, as he wanted his contract terminated so that he could negotiate with and sign for a club of his choice.

However, Sundowns were not keen to go that route, as the PSL heavyweights wanted the Brazilian to honour his running contract.

To show how determined the PSL Player of the Season was to have his contract terminated, he escalated the matter to the FIFA Dispute and Resolution Chamber, hoping to benefit from the Diarra ruling.

    WHAT NEXT FOR RIBEIRO?

After sending his farewell to the Sundowns' fraternity, eyes will now be keen to see which club he will eventually sign for.

Given his profile that he created at Sundowns and at the FIFA Club World Cup, the 2024/25 PSL Golden Boot winner is expected not to be a free agent for long.
