Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Humphrey Mlwane has criticised Nasreddine Nabi and his players for not achieving favorable outcomes.
The Soweto giants have been finding it difficult to secure victories under the new technical staff led by Nabi, who fans believed would quickly bring them joy this season when he was appointed at the beginning of the season.
Nevertheless, outcomes have not aligned with expectations, and some supporters and club legends appear to have begun questioning the coach's capabilities.
The most recent ex-Amakhosi player to voice his disappointment is Mlwane, however, he encouraged fellow Chiefs fans not to lose faith in Nabi and his team.
"The results for Chiefs have been disappointing. I just don’t know what’s happening with the team and all that I can say is that for us who love the team, we are disappointed. I don’t want to single out anyone, whether the problem is with the coach or players, all of them are in this together and it is disappointing what is happening," said Mlwane told Soccer Laduma.
"We had a lot of expectations about the team to improve under the new coach [Nasreddine Nabi] but judging by what we have seen so far and the results, it looks like we are in for a very long season.
"The results have not been impressive. There is just no progress and all I see is huffing and puffing by the team and it’s disappointing. It’s like the team is taking one step forward and 10 backward," he added.
"I just feel sorry for Chiefs supporters because their team is so disappointing. But let’s not give up on the team and maybe there is work that is being done behind the scenes to improve the team and the results. I am just worried that the team could end up signing 40 players trying to fix this problem to no avail."
BackpagepixFrom nine matches, Chiefs have secured three wins, three draws, and suffered three losses. They have only gathered twelve points.
Nabi joined the Naturena-based giants in July, succeeding Molefi Ntseki, who had also been criticized for failing to bring success to the Premier Soccer League giants.
Despite this, the former Young Africans coach has been requesting the club's management to sign the 'right' players that meet Chiefs' standards to help restore the glory days at Naturena.
It will be interesting to discover which players the club will acquire for Nabi when the next transfer window opens on January 1. Bafana Bafana international Oswin Appollis is amongst their top targets.
Nabi needs to quickly improve the situation at Chiefs to prevent being dismissed as the club's fans appear to be starting to lose confidence in him.
The journey to changing fortunes begins with a home match, set to occur at the Moses Mabhida Stadium against Chippa United on December 29.
