    Luis Manuel Diaz was in tears as he embraced his son when they met up before the player reported to the Colombia national team. Several more relatives were present at the pair's first meeting since the release of Luis Manuel.

    Luis Manuel Diaz was kidnapped and held by the National Liberation Army (ELN) for 12 days before his release on November 9. He was handed over to a humanitarian commission consisting of the United Nations and the Catholic Church.

    The player's father opened up on his experience while kidnapped, saying: "It was a lot of horseback riding, a lot of mountains, a lot of rain, too many insects. I couldn’t sleep peacefully. It was difficult. Almost 12 days without sleep."
