    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Khuliso Mudau has returned to training following a period on the sidelines while pushing for a move away from the club.

The 30-year-old has missed the Brazilians' six games across all competitions so far this season but has now joined his teammates, as per iDiski Times.

    THE MUDAU STORY

Reports suggest that Mudau has been keen on leaving Masandawana, but the club has not accepted offers for the right-back.

According to FARPost, the player is also said to be demanding an improved deal after Sundowns activated the one-year extension to his contract, which had run out at the end of June.

Sundowns and Mudau are said to be still in discussion amid indications that the two parties are set to reach an agreement, especially after the defender resumed training.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mudau is back just as Sundowns prepare to visit Kaizer Chiefs for Wednesday's Premier Soccer League tie at FNB Stadium.

However, for a player who was away from training with the rest of the team and yet to feature in a competitive match, the chances of him featuring against Amakhosi look slim.

In his absence, Zuko Mdunyelwa has been consistent at right-back while Thapelo Morena has been on standby.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MUDAU?

Despite not playing competitive football, Mudau still found his way into Hugo Broos' 48-man preliminary squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Lesotho.

It is to be seen if he will make it into the final squad set to be announced on Thursday.
