    WHAT HAPPENED?

Since joining Orlando Pirates in July 2023, Katlego Otladisa has only seen action in twelve games, with this season marking a particularly challenging period as he remains on the sidelines.

Despite Pirates clinching the MTN8 championship, Otladisa’s role has been minimal, featuring only once on the bench in a league match against SuperSport United.

His agent, Nimrod Mbhalati, spoke out about the situation, sharing insights on the winger’s hard work, patience, and readiness to make an impact if given the chance.

Although Otladisa’s contract runs until June 2026, concerns are growing over his limited role in the squad.

    WHAT MBHALATI SAID

“Look the boy is in good space and working very hard,” he tells as reported by iDiski Times.

“He is performing well in the friendly games and patiently waiting for his chance to come and I believe once it comes he will grab it with both hands.

“I saw the hunger in his eyes last time I was with him speaking about his situation at the club but anyway, he is a professional and also Pirates have a lot of games to play this season including the Champions League and cup competitions so hopefully he will get a chance.”

“About him going out on a loan we had a conversation about that with the management in the previous window and nothing materialised,” he stated.

“So let’s wait and see if he doesn’t play until the next window because he needs regular first team minutes at his age now – so we will cross the bridge when we get there.”

Mbhalati previously mentioned that meeting with Pirates’ management to discuss Otladisa's future is unlikely soon due to the closed transfer window. Reflecting on this, he said, “He is at an age where he should be getting more minutes... we will cross that bridge when we get there.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With his contract lasting until June 2026, Otladisa’s lack of first-team action at this stage of his career is concerning.

Pirates’ busy schedule this season - including Champions League and other cup competitions - could potentially offer him the chance he’s been waiting for.

However, with Jose Riveiro's reluctance to name him on the bench, never mind give him playing time, the most likely scenario is a move away from the Buccaneers.

    WHAT IS NEXT FOR OTLADISA

Otladisa approach is to wait and see if he will get first-team minutes at Orlando Pirates before the next transfer window.

If he continues to remain sidelined, the loan opportunities maybe revisited to ensure he gains more playing time.

In recent weeks, Golden Arrows and Polokwane City have been mentioned as clubs potentially interested in securing his services should he become available for a loan move.
