    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have been struggling under Nasreddine Nabi who is in his first season at Amakhosi.

The Soweto giants are seventh on the Premier Soccer League table with 12 points less than log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who have played two games fewer.

Former Pirates midfielder Mpho Makola has named his top four PSL coaches and feels Nabi should be given more time.

    WHAT MAKOLA SAID

“These men make the PSL more unpredictable than ever. It’s that level of competition that I like," Makola told FARPost.

"I am excited to see how the season ends and where they will lead their respective teams. Riveiro has done well at Orlando Pirates. But at Kaizer Chiefs, they have to give him [Nasreddine Nabi] one more season at least to fully adjust.

“Then also, Cardoso inherited a good team and has already shown that he can keep them in the same trajectory," former Cape Town City star continued.

“Muhsin Ertuğral is a good coach. His return to PSL makes it more interesting. But to be honest, the presence of those men makes the league a hot pot. TS Galaxy also have an interesting coach, who I believe has got something special to offer in the PSL.

“At the end of the day, I am happy for the players working with these coaches. They are getting good exposure and I hope they utilize it well to the best of their abilities.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Nabi is now left with 17 league games to help Amakhosi recover and at least fight for a top-four finish.

There is also the Nedbank Cup to play for and it is the Soweto giants' most realistic chance to finish the season with a piece of silverware.

Ending the season with a trophy will help Chiefs break a 10-year wait for a trophy and could safeguard Nabi's job.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

The Soweto giants are looking at recovering from last weekend's 1-0 loss to Golden Arrows.

They host in-form Sekhukhune United at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday in a match they are pressed to win.
