    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Chiefs' striker Kabamba Musasa has tipped Glody Lilepo to have a far better campaign next season compared to how he performed in 2024/25.

However, the former striker has cautioned that Lilepo can only improve if Amakhosi's striking department is strengthened.

    WHAT MUSASA SAID

"Lilepo will explode next season for Chiefs because of how he has quickly adjusted at the club, where he seems to have the trust of the coach," Musasa told KickOff.

"I like the way he has started his career at Chiefs; he has shown that he can do the job for the team. Once he has had preseason with the club, I strongly believe he will carry Chiefs' hopes next season," he added.

"But I feel Chiefs need to strengthen their forward line for them to see more of Lilepo. He is a very good player, and I like that he is quick and can score."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

A lack of a lethal striker is one of the reasons head coach Nasreddine Nabi cited for Amakhosi's underwhelming campaign last season.

The Tunisian trusted Lilepo, who scored six goals and registered an assist in 18 games for the team, making him the club's top scorer.

In the transfer window, Chiefs are expected to bring in more players and back Nabi, who is keen to strengthen the playing unit in order to make it more competitive.

The striking department is expected to be particularly bolstered, especially given Nabi's concerns at the end of last season.

    WHAT NEXT FOR LILEPO?

In his second season with the Glamour Boys, the striker can only hope to remain in form and maybe hit a double-digit target.

The kind of strikers that could be signed at Naturena will have an impact on Lilepo's output because if a better option is brought on board, he will see his game time reduced.

But if one who complements him is signed, then he would end up a more lethal attacker.
