Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly parted ways with one of their midfielders as they seek to make space for their foreign quota.
The Soweto giants currently have six foreign players and would still need to release or loan out one more to accommodate a non-South African should they sign one during this current transfer window.
This comes as Amakhosi have been heavily linked with signing Tanzania international midfielder Feisal Salum.

WHO IS THE PLAYER RELEASED BY CHIEFS?
Amakhosi have reportedly released central midfielder Edson Castillo who has been at Naturena since July 2023.
According to FARPost, Castillo was not part of the squad that left for the Netherlands on Thursday for pre-season training.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The reported decision on Castillo might come as a surprise to Amakhosi fans, although he spent the better part of last season injured.
Whenever summoned to action, the 31-year-old would prove to be arguably Chiefs' best central midfielder.
However, coach Nasreddine Nabi appeared to have little faith in Castillo as he handed him limited game time before the Venezuelan was injured.

WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?
It remains to be seen if Amakhosi will seal the Salum deal soon for him to join the rest of the squad in the Netherlands.
More signings should be expected to be made by Nabi and some players could also be released.
