    Goalkeeper & Defence

    Brandon Petersen (6.5/10)

The goalkeeper had a relatively quiet evening, with Richards Bay offering few meaningful attempts to trouble him.

    Bradley Cross (7/10)

On the left, Cross worked tirelessly, providing Chiefs with consistent attacking options and a threat going forward.

    Aden McCarthy (7.5/10)

It was unfortunate that the 21-year-old had to be taken off, seemingly with a hamstring issue, after showing solid composure in the heart of Chiefs’ defence. A setback for Amakhosi.

    Inacio Miguel (7/10)

Miguel marshalled his defence effectively, though Richards Bay’s attackers offered little threat throughout the game.

    Thabiso Monyane (7.5/10)

The former Orlando Pirates right-back was lively going forward, consistently posing a threat in Chiefs’ attacking play.

    Midfield

    Thabo Cele (7/10)

Cele controlled the tempo for Chiefs, ensuring the team maintained momentum and had ample support going forward.

    Sibongiseni Mthethwa (6.5/10)

While Mthethwa offered cover for the wingbacks, a few wayward passes disrupted Chiefs’ attacking flow.

    Siphesihle Ndlovu (6.5/10)

Ndlovu was substituted after the halftime break as Chiefs opted for a tactical change, bringing on extra firepower to boost their attack.

    Glody Lilepo (7.5/10)

The 28-year-old operated on the left wing, consistently making his presence felt whenever Chiefs mounted an attack.

    Wandile Duba (7/10)

Another player who was active throughout the game provided a neat assist for Sirino’s decisive goal.

  • Mduduzi Shabalala, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2025Backpagepix

    Attack

    Mduduzi Shabalala (6.5/10)

The forward struggled to make an impact, registering just two shots at goal, with only one on target.

    Subs & Manager

    Zitha Kwinika (6.5/10)

Replacing McCarthy, Kwinika saw little action, ending the match with a yellow card and minimal impact on the game.

    Nkosingiphile Ngcobo (7/10)

Introduced at halftime, Ngcobo added much-needed effectiveness to Chiefs’ attack.

    Gaston Sirino (7.5/10)

The South American was electric from the moment he came on in the second half, and his brilliantly taken goal secured maximum points for the team. A stern warning to his former club, Mamelodi Sundowns, ahead of next week's big clash.

    Pule Mmodi (6/10)

In his 24 minutes on the field, Mmodi worked to help stabilise the match and maintain control.

    Mfundo Vilakazi (No rating)

Not enough minutes on the field.

    Khalid Ben Youssef (7/10)

One key decision was Ben Youssef’s early substitutions and bringing Sirino in to be an effective presence for the team in the second half.
