    WHAT HAPPENED?

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named his final squad for the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda, respectively.

In-form Orlando Pirates dominate the team that is desperate for maximum points from the two games to stand a chance of topping the group after the recent decision by FIFA to dock Mzansi points following the Teboho Mokoena blunder.

However, Kaizer Chiefs' midfielder Mduduzi Shabalala has not made the cut.

    WHAT BROOS SAID

Coach Hugo Broos justified his decision to keep Kaizer Chiefs players out of his squad. He has hinted that they have not made the cut because of the quality.

“I was [on the pitch] yesterday [Wednesday night] Chiefs, Chiefs didn’t play a good game," he said during the naming of his squad.

"I’m sorry. What is a chance? A shot on goal a chance.

“I can’t say that I saw a good game [against AmaZulu],” he concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Currently, Bafana Bafana are second in Group C with 14 points, the same as leaders Benin, who have a superior goal difference.

Nigeria and Rwanda are trailing the duo by three points, meaning Broos' men can't afford slipping up.
