    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Samkelo Zwane has admitted he is facing immense pressure at the Premier Soccer League (PSL) side.

While accepting the fact that he cannot run away from pressure, Zwane said the only way to overcome it is to listen to what the coach says and stay true to who someone truly is.

    WHAT ZWANE SAID

“I won’t lie, it’s not easy at all. The pressure comes from all angles, left, right, everywhere we go," Zwane told iDiski Times.

“Look, there is pressure, but I think the most important thing is just to stay true to who you are and do what you know and what the coach wants. I think that’s the best way to overcome the pressure," he added.

The midfielder also spoke about his relationship with the Amakhosi fans.

“My relationship with the supporters. I’m just grateful and appreciative of the support that they have shown me and the way that I play football," he revealed.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

At Chiefs, pressure must be palpable now, especially when their performance in the PSL is considered.

Their last win in the league came on March 4, when they defeated Magesi FC 1-0. Since then, they have drawn against Cape Town City, TS Galaxy, and Chippa United and have been defeated by Richards Bay and Golden Arrows.

Amakhosi are winless in the last five games, meaning their ambition to finish in the top eight hangs in the balance.

With these kinds of performances, they have found themselves under immense pressure, with fans demanding more from the players and head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

However, Zwane and his fellow teammates at Chiefs have a chance to end the season with a trophy at least. They eliminated Mamelodi Sundowns to progress to the Nedbank Cup final, where they are set to face traditional Soweto rivals, Orlando Pirates.
