    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is enduring a season to forget—struggling to break into the top eight and suffering two defeats to arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.

Despite the challenges, he has one final shot at redemption in the Nedbank Cup final against the Buccaneers.

The pressure is mounting as this is his only remaining chance to deliver silverware this season.

One positive for Chiefs is the return of midfielder George Matlou, who has spent time on the sidelines due to injury.

Matlou shared how difficult it was not being able to do what he loves and expressed his gratitude to be back in the squad.

He also touched on his future at the club and his determination to make an impact.

His return could be a timely boost as the team prepares for their biggest game of the season.

    WHAT MATLOU SAID

"I'm happy to be back, it's been a difficult time for me. I would say it was a bit hard for me to heal, but glad that I am fully recovered and fully fit," Matlou said, as reported by Kickoff.

"I am ready, I am fit. I have been struggling with injuries, but I am fully recovered now. I am back on the field, I am fit and ready to play any game.

"It was a hard journey for me because it had been almost a year without doing what I love. So, going to training, seeing your teammates going to the field but you are going the other way, you are going to the gym, you can imagine how I was feeling.

"Imagine going every day to training, but you are not taking any part in it. It was a bit hard for me, but I have learned during the journey, and I'm also happy to be back," he added, before expressing gratitude to the club amidst talk about his future.

"Of course, you would be a bit worried because you don't know where your future is. So, I had to wait for the club to make the decision. I'm grateful that they believed in me and they gave me another opportunity to stay."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Nabi needs to win the Nedbank Cup to restore faith in his leadership and deliver a much-needed trophy to Naturena.

Players like Miguel Inácio, Edson Castillo, and Wandile Duba are back in contention for starting roles, adding depth and options for the final.

Thabo Cele also returned to action in the last match, though Nabi explained his absence from the starting eleven was due to fitness management.

With a decade-long trophy drought looming over Chiefs, this is the moment to make history and silence the critics.
