    Calm down

Kaizer Chiefs legend Siyabonga Nomvethe has asked Amakhosi fans to calm down after Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos snubbed the club's players again.

In naming his final 23-man squad for the October World Cup qualifiers, Broos did not include a single player from the Soweto giants. Despite the Belgian overlooking their players, Nomvethe has said the fans must stand with the national team regardless.

    Support Bafana

“I urge Kaizer Chiefs supporters to remain calm. It is the coach's decision regarding who is selected and who isn’t," Nomvethe told KickOff.

“Let's just support the team, Makhosi. But I also disagree with Broos when he claims that Chiefs didn’t have a good performance against AmaZulu. In all their matches this season, Chiefs have played well," he added.

“We're not talking about a team that can’t even reach the goalposts. Chiefs are creating chances in every game; they just need to be more clinical in finishing them. Every Chiefs player has been outstanding so far."

"As a national team coach, Broos should evaluate each player individually rather than basing his selections solely on team performance. There’s no need to select a majority from one team; it raises questions about doubts regarding the players from other teams."

“A coach must assess all players.”

    Disagree with Broos

In defending his position that Chiefs have been playing well, Nomvethe, who scored the first-ever winning goal by Bafana Bafana in a World Cup match, gave the example of Mduduzi Shabalala as one of the fine players.

“Mduduzi Shabalala performed well on Wednesday against AmaZulu. Let’s be honest, he has been impressive in the past two games," he explained.

“However, I believe Broos has selected a good squad. I don’t think anything is preventing them from winning both matches. We need to support the boys in their upcoming games against Zimbabwe and Rwanda."

    Overlooked again

This was not the first time Broos overlooked Chiefs players for international duties. Last season, he cited Amakhosi's struggle as the reason why he did not call up their players.

This season, Amakhosi have been quite impressive but again, did not contribute a single player to the national team.

    Bafana's crucial qualifiers

Bafana, whose automatic World Cup qualification was hit by a massive blow when FIFA deducted their points, will play Zimbabwe and Rwanda this month.

The former African champions will first face the Warriors from Zimbabwe on October 10, and on October 14, they will tackle Amavubi of Rwanda.
