    WHAT HAPPENED?

Fiacre Ntwari started last season as Kaizer Chiefs' number one goalkeeper but was later relegated to the third choice after Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen.

That has sparked rumours that the Rwanda international is frustrated and wants out of Naturena.

AmaZulu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa has been mentioned as a possible Amakhosi signing, and legendary custodian Joseph Setlhodi does not approve of the prospect of the Usuthu star joining Chiefs.

    WHAT SETLHODI SAID

"As for Veli Mothwa for Chiefs, no, not now. Maybe two years ago, yes, he was going to make it," said Setlhodi.

"His confidence is no more there, and he's been playing for a losing side. Losing your winning mentality is the biggest problem in a footballer.

"Winning mentality is what helps you as a footballer to win games even if you are not at your best. Losing game after game affects your confidence," added the Amakhosi legend.

"So, in short, I will say Veli Mothwa is hurt. The loss of form has left a huge scar in him, and he's going to take time to recover.  You look at his age, I don't think he will be able to bounce back anytime soon."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Working against 34-year-old Mothwa is his age for a club that is building for the future.

A series of costly mistakes has also seen the Usuthu goalkeeper lose his number one spot at the club.

Amakhosi have also been looking at Chippa United and Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali as a possible signing.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Apart from beefing up their goalkeeping department, the Soweto giants are also expected to fortify other areas from defence to upfront.
