    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Junior Khanye has blamed Bruce Bvuma for their Premier Soccer League defeat to Marumo Gallants on Saturday.

Amakhosi's poor run in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) continued after they were beaten 2-1 by Gallants on their own turf. The loss represented their sixth match without a win and 11th loss of the campaign.

While acknowledging that Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have better goalkeepers, Khanye said Bvuma should be blamed for the defeat against Gallants.

    WHAT KHANYE SAID

“Poor from the goalkeeper, poor from Bruce Bvuma. Just pile the ball far away. Now he’s punching the ball, and it falls close to the opposition," Khanye said, as per iDiski Times.

“Seasoned player. I mean, we’re not being harsh to players, but we need to be realistic. I mean, the team lost. That ball was a one-on-one. I think Chiefs could have drawn.

“If you don’t have a goalkeeper, it’s a problem, especially at a big team like Kaizer Chiefs. [Orlando] Pirates got one of the best goalkeepers [Sipho Chaine], especially in the country, and Ronwen Williams as well at Mamelodi Sundowns; it’s just Chiefs.

“As a big team, I think that’s where they are losing it to start off," he concluded.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Khanye is not the only one who has questioned the quality of goalkeepers at Amakhosi. Itumeleng Khune, who served Amakhosi for many years, has proposed that a South African coach is needed to handle the keepers at the club.

How Chiefs will go about the next transfer window in regard to strengthening their goalkeeping department is a matter that will be closely followed.
