Itumeleng Khune, Kaizer ChiefsBackpage

'Kaizer Chiefs legend Khune was great shot-stopper but like Brian Baloyi, he brought nothing! Itumeleng is an overhyped media sweetheart but hasn't achieved half of what Ronwen Williams has won' - Fans

Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune recently alleged he is the best goalkeeper Mzansi has ever produced, better than Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana custodian Ronwen Williams.

The 37-year-old is currently a free agent after being released by the Glamour Boys at the beginning of the ongoing season, after serving them for 25 years.

However, South Africans are divided about what Khune achieved, and whether he is the greatest ever as he claimed.

Have a look at what they said as sampled by GOAL.

Khune still better than rubbish manning Chiefs goal

Khune defined goalkeeping in South Africa. He remains the benchmark to date. He would still be a better choice than the rubbish currently manning goals at Kaizer Chiefs right now. Kaizer Chiefs is leaking goals at their last line of defence - Bongi Gumede

Khune played when Bafana was poor

Let's not get things twisted, Ronwen Williams is good but Khune was an incredible goalkeeper. Pity he played in the worst era of Bafana plus it did not help the fact that Chiefs never took the Champions League seriously back in the day otherwise Khune could have been the greatest African goalkeeper - Leal Deep

Even David Villa couldn't beat him

True, he has been one of the best goalkeepers worldwide. In his prime,  even David Villa couldn't beat him. No one even in his prime reached Khune's pinnacle! Show me any goalkeeper who has worked as hard as him - Samuel Majoro

He shouldn't beat his own drum

He shouldn't beat his own drum, results should set him apart and prove that he is the best among others, he should stop acting like his former team who claim they are better than the best-performing team. He can't be better than goalkeepers who have achieved accolades in African competitions - Riri Solomon

For the 10 years Chiefs have gone without trophy he was a keeper in eight!

He must focus on drinking. At least no one will say he reported to work under the influence. He’s a best Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper and they must celebrate him in their pages. In the 10 years of drought, he contributed 8 full years -  Lucky Ncala

Good but trophy collection can't be compared to Williams

Arguably one of the finest products to have ever come out of Mzansi, it's a pity his trophy collection is poor compared to that of Williams, but I'd personally pick Khune anyday for individual brilliance - Epistles Thabang Maoko

He was good but not the best

I've seen how he used to cheat during penalty shootouts. He mustn't lie. He was good, but definitely not the best - Kemisetso Boikanyo Oratile Ledwaba

Overhyped Khune can't match Williams & Arendse

Khune is an overhyped media sweetheart. Ronwen Williams and Andre Arendse have achieved more than him - Nare Joe Maupye

Unlike Williams, Khune is like Kane, nothing to show

Khune hasn't achieved half of what Ronwen Williams has achieved. A great goalkeeper with nothing to show. Just Like Harry Kane, a great striker but no silverware - Kwenisto Makgakga

Like Baloyi, he never brought anything to the country

He was a good entertainer, and a good shot-stopper, but achievement-wise he is the same as Brian Baloyi, never brought anything to the country - Selby Lindelani Sithole
