    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have not won a piece of silverware since 2015 despite a number of coaches taking charge of the Soweto giants and countless players bought and sold.

Some investments in the transfer market have been witnessed at Naturena without the desired results and the club's ex-forward Bernard Parker has had his say on Chiefs' activity in the market.

    WHAT PARKER SAID

“I think what has been happening, to be honest with you, in the last 10 years, what Chiefs have been doing is keep on signing and signing. The next thing they offload, offload and sign again,” said Parker as per FARPost.

“But do we thoroughly profile the player? Do we thoroughly bring in a player who has shown consistency over three years, not six months or a year?

“It’s important because every player that needs to don a Kaizer Chiefs jersey needs to be a seasoned campaigner, not just a six-month form that he hit," added the former Amakhosi star.

“Also, when we sign players, can we identify where we can strengthen the team and what we have inside in that way? If we just add on thinking and hoping the player will hit the ground running, I think it will be just a continuous thing where the club will fall short every year.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Amakhosi have been criticised for making transfer blunders in recent seasons, something attributed to their prolonged trophy drought.

In the last transfer window, Chiefs made three signings, bringing in Tashreeq Morris, Glody Lilepo and Thabo Cele.

Those were fully under the responsibility of coach Nasreddine Nabi and it is to be seen if he made the correct decisions in the market.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

The Soweto giants' chances of winning the PSL title appear slim as they trail log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 17 points, with the Brazilians having played two games less.

However. there is also the Nedbank Cup to play for and Chiefs are in the Round of 16 but their stubbornly inconsistent results in the league will make a successful cup run difficult.
