    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs will be without suspended coach Nasreddine Nabi when they host Sekhuhune United in a Premier Soccer League match at Moses Mabhida Stadium after the coach was red-carded in the aftermath of their defeat to Golden Arrows.

The Soweto giants also have key players like Gaston Sirino, Rushwin Dortley, Edson Castillo and Ashley du Preez facing fitness issues.

Nabi's assistant coach Khalil ben Youssef has opened up on the situation in their camp.

    WHAT BEN YOUSSEF SAID

“Ashley this week won’t be with us, and I can’t say when he will be fit as we are still waiting for the report from the medical team about his state,” said Ben Youssef as per FARPost.

“We have a player that has a fracture, Castillo. Sirino is also out. Dortley, you know, when he came back from the national team, Bafana Bafana, he returned with an injury. So we are trying to manage and protest him.

"For this game [Sekhukhune], we don’t know yet if he will be with us or not. We are still waiting for the medical report."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The unavailability of Nabi and some of his players comes at a time when Chiefs are desperate to pick themselves up from last weekend's defeat by Golden Arrows.

Sirino has been absent after starting the season with two goals and four assists in nine games across all competitions.

Rushwin Dortley had featured in every minute of Amakhosi's 14 matches prior to the Arrows match while Du Preez and Castillo were struggling for consistency in the games they featured in.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Ben Youssef will stand in for Nabi when Amakhosi host Sekhukhune for their fourth match of 2025.

They come up against Babina Noko who are unbeaten in their last five PSL games and are third on the table.
