    WHAT HAPPENED?

    WHAT BIYELA SAID

"It is true that Chiefs have contacted us several times about Mabuya's situation, but they have not put anything on the table," Biyela told Isolezwe.

"They have spoken to us several times but it is not true that an agreement has been reached.

"I don't know the story of Yanela Mbuthuma and Pirates. It means that there are people who want to see him play there, but at the moment we haven't been contacted."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mabuya, who is an attack-minded right-back, has scored one goal and provided two assists for Richards Bay this season so far. Conversely, Mbuthuma has netted two goals for the KwaZulu-Natal club this term.

Mbuthuma has seen his outstanding performances catch the attention of Bafana Bafana Hugo Broos who has included him in his preliminary squad twice previously.

Biyela seems to be open to selling his two assets if enticing offers are presented to him by the two Soweto giants.

    WHAT NEXT?

With the current January transfer window still open until January 28, it remains to be seen whether Mabuya and Mbuthuma will join one of the prominent PSL teams.

A call-up to Bafana is also what the two skilled players will be aiming for ahead of Bafana's upcoming 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin in March.
