    WHAT HAPPENED?

Zakhele Lepasa is a free agent after being released by Orlando Pirates, while Lebogang Maboe is also clubless after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Durban City coach Gavin Hunt has revealed that he has tried signing the two players.

This comes as Lepasa has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

    WHAT HUNT SAID

"I phoned both. I think Lepasa's head is somewhere else," Hunt told Soccer Laduma.
"I think he wants to go somewhere else. And Maboe had a shoulder injury and he said he would get back to me and he has not got back to me. Maybe they don't want to play [for Durban City], I don't know.
"With Darren [Keet], we have a goalkeeper that left last season. The nine and 10 left, so Haashim [Domingo] and Trevor Mokwena come in. We had to replace there. We've got [Brooklyn] Poggenpoel as well," added the former Chiefs coach.
"Players were not there, so we had to bring in players. Most of them are free and they are good players. They will do a job for us."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Both Lepasa and Maboe have previously worked with Hunt, who appears to appreciate their value by his keenness to have them at Durban City.

Hunt brought Lepasa to SuperSport United on loan from Orlando Pirates, while he also had Maboe from Sundowns.

Getting the two players would make business sense for Hunt, as Durban City will not have to pay transfer fees.

They have both been linked with Kaizer Chiefs over the years.

    WHAT NEXT?

The PSL transfer window is still wide open and there is still time for Hunt to add players to his squad.

While he is still concerned with signings, focus is also on Sunday's PSL opener against TS Galaxy away.
