    WHAT HAPPENED?

The 30-year-old defender has made six appearances across all competitions since recovering from a long-term injury.

The setback occurred during preseason camp in Turkey, just days after the arrival of head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Since then, it has been a frustrating season for Kaizer Chiefs, marked by inconsistency under the Tunisian tactician.

While the Mozambican international is enjoying his return to the pitch, he remains concerned about the team’s defensive frailties.

Speaking to the media during an open day at Naturena, he openly expressed his disappointment with how easily they’ve been conceding goals.

He emphasized the need for the team to tighten up at the back and restore defensive discipline.

With the season nearing its conclusion, Chiefs are still battling to reach the 30-point mark.

For a club of their history and stature, that tally falls well below expectations.

    WHAT DOVE SAID

“Defending doesn’t start at the back,” said Dove as reported by iDiski Times.

“You know it’s a whole unit problem and as I said there’s things that you know we need to fix, starting from the front to the back.

“Yeah, because when we concede goals not only defenders concede goals but the whole team. So I think it’s something that we need to fix as a unit not as a department.

“I think we take one game at a time and yes we have conceded silly goals sometimes, but we choose not to focus a lot on what we can’t control anymore. I mean, all the games are gone.

“I feel like the most important thing is us focusing from now going forward, you know, minimize our mistakes and making sure that whenever we get a chance to score we score.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Amakhosi currently sit on 29 points after 23 league matches, a position that highlights their ongoing struggle.

However, there is still hope to salvage something from the season through the Nedbank Cup as the dates and times were confirmed.

Their upcoming semi-final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns is a massive opportunity to bring silverware to Naturena.

Victory in the competition could also provide a route back to continental football next season, something the fans desperately crave.

Meanwhile, both Orlando Pirates and Sundowns have impressed in the Caf Champions League, with each registering wins in their last eight fixtures.

Their continental success only adds more pressure on Chiefs to rise to the occasion and match the ambition of their fiercest rivals.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Chiefs will face TS Galaxy in their next match, with the Rockets currently sitting in fourth place on the log.

In their first-round encounter, the two sides played to a 1-1 draw, making this upcoming fixture crucial for both teams.

Chiefs will be aiming to secure all three points as they look to close the gap on the top teams.
