    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs host Chippa United in a Premier Soccer League match at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.

Nasreddine Nabi and his men have failed to win their last three league games, leaving them in position nine.

They now go into the Chippa match without a midfielder who has been injured again after recently returning to full fitness from a long lay-off.

    WHAT NABI SAID

"Our pre-match preparation has gone well," Nabi told Chiefs' website.

"We had a good week of training ahead of this game. We are ready and eager to give a good account of ourselves.

"The only player unavailable from the last match against TS Galaxy is [Tebogo] Potsane, which is quite unfortunate because he is a player who just came back from a long-term injury and was playing very well, building up momentum and confidence, so that is disappointing for him and for us."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

After being out since December 2023 due to injury, Potsane returned to competitive football after 12 months.

But he is now injured again after playing just two PSL games in which he came on as a substitute for a combined 88 minutes from both matches.

He was yet to make an impact but his performances were promising and an indication of someone who was pushing to become a regular.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Victory for Amakhosi on Sunday will see them storm into the top eight from position nine.

The Soweto giants would want to end the season on a high and they come up against the Chilli Boys who are a rung above them in the eighth spot.
