Kaizer Chiefs coach Nabi insists Glody Lilepo is yet to reach his full potential and challenges the player - ‘He can easily finish the league with 10 goals’

Nasreddine Nabi has praised the influence of Glody Lilepo since his arrival in South Africa from France. The Congolese forward has featured in 14 matches and scored six goals for Kaizer Chiefs. His energy, flair, and eye for goal have added a new dimension to Amakhosi’s attack.

Nabi admitted that while Lilepo has been impressive, he believes the attacker has not yet reached his full potential.

The Tunisian coach insists that with more time, Lilepo can easily score double digits in the PSL. His confidence on the ball and ability to create chances have earned him admiration from fans and teammates. Nabi’s belief in Lilepo highlights the faith the coach has in the Congolese star’s long-term value to the club.

“We feel that he’s a player that has not reached his potential because before coming he spent some month without playing due to difficulties with his previous team,” said Nabi as reported by iDiski Times.

“You can see that he’s a player that sometimes doesn’t finish games because his full potential is not reached yet. But we feel that once he reaches his full physical potential he will be used to his teammates, having a good preseason he’s a player than can do more than what he does right now.

“This is a first step,” added Nabi.

“He’s a player that is a winger but those kind of wingers that can easily finish the league with 10 goals. He’s a winger that likes to get inside, likes to score and he is looking all the time at opportunities to score or to make his teammate score.

“And we believe that he can even do more than that.”

Lilepo’s quick adaptation to South African football has been remarkable. Despite joining mid-season, his impact has been instant, with goals and strong performances. A full preseason with Chiefs would likely unlock more of his talent.

However, reports of Nabi possibly being sacked could affect Lilepo’s growth if a new coach doesn’t favour him. Chiefs' management have indicated they want to keep Nabi, and if he stays, the future looks bright for Lilepo under his guidance.

Chiefs have one final game to end the 2024/25 season on a high. Nabi will want to secure a top-eight finish. Lilepo will be key in helping them achieve that goal.
