Kaizer Chiefs are set for action on Sunday when they play Stellenbosch in the Premier Soccer League fixture to be staged at the Athlone Stadium.

While this will be the first competitive game for Amakhosi, it will be the second for Steve Barker's men, who recently sealed their place in the MTN8 semi-final.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chiefs finished ninth in the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League campaign, and will definitely not want a repeat of the same, explaining why they have to start the season better.

However, they will have to do without the services of the influential Pule Mmodi, who was sent off in the club's final game of the last edition against Sekhukhune United.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi has conceded it will be a blow playing Babina Noko without the attacker.

    WHAT NABI SAID

"We are ready but just regretting the absence of Pule Mmodi for the first game because of suspension," he said ahead of the match.

"He is an important player for us.

"But I need to give confidence for all the players to get a positive result," Nabi concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

In the absence of Mmodi, we might see Glody Lilepo on the left wing and Wandile Duba on the right one; Gaston Sirino is another option.

Last season, Chiefs beat Stellies three times in all competitions and will be hoping to get another win on Sunday.
