    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs are celebrating 55 years since their inception.

The Glamour Boys are the most decorated team in South Africa having won unprecedented 93 major trophies.

It is a record they are proud of alongside millions of their fans in Mzansi.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

However, for the last nine seasons, Amakhosi have struggled to deliver silverware.

It got worse in the 2023/24 season when they finished 10th on the Premier Soccer League table, their worst-ever finish.

Despite the appointment of coach Nasreddine Nabi as the new coach, the Glamour Boys have not recovered.

They are currently placed seventh on the table, trailing leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 15 points, as many as what Chiefs have managed.

Nevertheless, the club's founder and chairman Kaizer Motaung Senior has insisted the club will soon get back to their best.

  • WHAT MOTAUNG SAID

"As we move forward into the next phase of our journey, our commitment to excellence continues to drive us forward," he said as quoted by the club's media team.

"We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Kaizer Chiefs remains a Club that our supporters are proud of; a Club that upholds the traditions of our founding fathers and embraces the modern landscape of football.

"Together, we shall strive for more victories, more memories, and an even greater legacy. Here’s to the next 55 years of Amakhosi!

"Together, let’s continue to build on our rich history and foster the spirit of unity, determination, and excellence that defines who we are as Kaizer Chiefs," Motaung Senior concluded.
