After losing five matches in a row in all competitions, City looked like they were back to winning ways when they took a three-goal lead in the first half of Tuesday's match at the Etihad Stadium. Feyenoord managed to fight back in the second period, though, and went on to earn a point in the match.

City have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup, lost ground in the Premier League title race and now sit 15th in the Champions League table. Their dismal run has sparked an angry reaction from the club's fans, with many eager to see them lose against rivals Liverpool at the weekend in the hope Guardiola gets sacked.

One fan, @SkyBlueMafia0, wrote on X while referencing Guardiola's love for Johan Cruyff's 'Total Football' model: "Liverpool might actually free us from this mess, free us from this Johan dogsh*t football that we are witnessing. #PepOut".

Another, @slay_jimmy, said: "Pep Guardiola thank you for the memories but it’s time for you to go,", while @Gerry_Deakin asked: "Has the bald fraud been sacked yet?"

Meanwhile, @moneyramorkut said: "I am a life long City supporter but I have to say it is time for Pep to leave the club. A legend but we as a club need to move on and bring young and hungry manager and build next generation team."

City are eight points behind Liverpool heading into the headline showdown at Anfield on Sunday and a defeat against Arne Slot's in-form team would put a tremendous dent in their hopes of winning another Premier League title.

Guardiola put the uncertainty about his future to an end when he signed a contract extension with the club last week, so there is little chance of him being sacked regardless of the weekend's result.
