    WHAT HAPPENED?

Themba Zwane was injured during Bafana Bafana's 2025 Afric Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo Brazzaville in October 2024.

    WHAT ZWANE SAID

“In terms of injury, I’m coming alright; I’m starting to run on the side now. I don’t feel the pain; it’s just the Achilles," Zwane told reporters.

"It’s tense, but I’m coming, alright. So far so good. Overall, I know myself. I’m strong, and I will come back strong. I will push myself and try to come back to the team.

Zwane is ready “to go there and try to help my team. I push myself and do extras.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In recent weeks, Zwane has been pictured participating in full training with the rest of his Sundowns teammates.

That gives hope that he is recovering well and could return to competitive football soon.

He is yet to play under coach Miguel Cardoso and the Portuguese will be hoping his captain returns to be on top of his game.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ZWANE?

The Brazilians face Orlando Pirates in a Premier Soccer League match on Saturday and it is to be seen if Zwane will be back to play.

It is a top-of-the-table clash in which Masandawana would need experienced payers to come to the party although a rusty Zwane might not give his best should he play as someone coming from a long layoff.
